What you’ll be doing...

The Director of Strategy and Planning will be responsible for the development and leadership of the in-house agency's(IHA) Strategy practice. The Director of Strategy and Planning reports to the VP, COO and works with senior creative leadership in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment with the aim of enhancing new and existing products in the Verizon portfolio by managing the strategic marketing development. In addition, this role isresponsible for helping to build and grow awareness of the IHA by acting as an outward-facing thought leader.

The Director of Strategy and Planning is responsible for creating brand identities for specific Verizon products and services through internal and industry research and discovery. By analyzing organizational process and competitive threats, this leader should be focused on both short and long term business opportunities. They will also manage the campaign measurement process to ensure that the internal business partners and the IHA are aligned on key performance metrics, establishing realistic business goals, and are providing accountability through reporting and analytics by providing continuously optimized strategies.

What we’re looking for...

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the overall creative strategy for Verizon across brand planning, cultural insights, digital strategy, social strategy, channel planning, research, innovation and analytics to create fully integrated campaigns, consumer experiences and marketing roadmaps

  • Provide sound, responsible and cutting edge marketing counseling and planning

  • Review, analyze and evaluate objectives related to media output, creative output, research reports and business unit data

  • Work with key stakeholders in the business in the creation of project specifications and schedules

  • Identify optimal marketing and branding opportunities across industry sectors that align with Verizon’s ongoing business development strategy

  • Provide market research, analyses and insights into latest industry trends and business opportunities

  • Train and develop a staff to work in collaboration with internal business units by promoting a strong sense of team

  • Help lead research initiatives and manage outside consultants

  • Represent the IHA and Verizon at industry conferences, events and symposiums

    SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Strong understanding of the intersection that a brand has with culture, human psychology/behavior, design, media, data and technology

  • An innovative thinker capable of enabling more inspiring, purposeful brand stories across communications, including content and emerging platforms

  • A balanced background of digital, data and creative focused on making brands better

  • Possess exceptional leadership skills, initiative, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage differing viewpoints so the final product remains true to the objective

  • Lead with passion that energizes the team to over-deliver against expectations and results in high employee engagement and overall job satisfaction

  • Experience building a culture of success where constructive feedback is valued

  • Intellectually curious leader who enjoys staying up to date on the latest trends to push the envelope and remain competitive with outside services, technologies and marketing platforms and technologies

  • Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access and building relationships with key executives and stakeholders

  • Ability to manage multiple business initiatives in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Expert knowledge of all functional agency departments, capabilities and service areas

  • Superior project management skills

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQIUREMENTS

  • MBA preferred, or Masters in Business or Marketing, commensurate experience in building agency client portfolios.

  • Interest in and aptitude for creative business and marketing solutions

  • 10+ years of experience brand/marketing/communications strategy experience in integrated, brand and digital communications.

  • Highly motivated, with a proven track record of building clients and expansion of client accounts
