Provide Instruction to new, unlicensed Motorcyclists who are getting certified for a RI Motorcycle License. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule. Classes are offered nearly every day from April through October. Potential candidates would be teaching the 16.5-hour Basic Rider Education Course mandated by the State of RI. Successful candidates would be responsible for instructing the classroom and riding portion of the training program, which prepares students for the road.

Teaching a motorcycle safety course is physically demanding. It requires long hours, inclement weather, standing for extended periods of time, walking approximately 5 miles in the course of a day, continuous bending and stooping to place cones, and sometimes the need to push inoperable motorcycles for distances up to mile.

*Engage in high-quality instruction in a diverse, inclusive, environment.

*Prepare and deliver effective lesson plans and provide supplemental material to achieve course objectives and address student needs.

*Integrate technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction.

*Use technology to enhance instruction, communicate effectively with students and colleagues and complete program record keeping and reporting requirements.

*Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and adhere to CCRI's policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations.

* Keep detailed and organized records of students' attendance, assessments, and progress.

*Attend in-service training, program meetings and other program-related events as needed.

*Maintain positive rapport with the public, CCRI students, community and promote motorcycle safety and safety equipment.

*Stay current with First Aid training and CPR certification and be prepared to respond to crashes

*Wear appropriate apparel and safety gear on the street and while instructing on the range.

*Maintain classroom and equipment as appropriate.

*Maintain all Motorcycle Safety Foundation Certifications and adhere to Rider Coach Rules of Professional conduct.

*Meet MSF Standards and follow the Rider Coach Code of Ethics as well as the RIREP Policy guide.

*A minimum of 21 years of age.

*Successful completion of a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Coach Instructor preparation course. This 80-hour course is offered through CCRI for a fee. To learn more visit: https://www.ccri.edu/workforce/transportation/motorcycle/ridercoach.html

*Must be a licensed, experienced motorcycle operator with a minimum of 3 years riding experience.

*Must be an avid motorcyclist with a minimum of 1,000 miles riding experience each Rhode Island Certification period (2 years).

*Must have a clean driving record with no alcohol related traffic violations, and no driver's license suspension, revocation, or denial within the three years preceding the date of application to become a rider coach.

*Must be able to spend extended periods of time (min. five hours) on the range.

*Must be able to up-right a training size motorcycle.

*Must be able to perform basic motorcycle maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Bilingual

*Certification in First Aid and CPR

*Teaching or training/coaching experience (Must be willing to obtain certification within 6 months of hire).

The most suitably qualified candidate will possess the following competencies:

*Proficiency in classroom and administrative technology including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

*Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques.

*Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.

*Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.

*Work collaboratively with students and colleagues.
