We are currently hiring a Head Chef in Coney Island Brewery in Brooklyn, NY.

This Management position will lead our food program for the Coney Island Brewery in Brooklyn, NY

What You'll Brew:



  • Directly responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation, and maintenance of quality standards; sanitation and cleanliness; training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion, and cost control.
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the tap room's recipes, portioning, and cooking/heating and serving standards.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line station to assure a smooth service period
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows closing checklist for kitchen area. Assists others with closing kitchen
  • Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining kitchen personnel as appropriate
  • Ensure that all products are ordered according to product specifications and received properly, assuring that deliveries are in accordance with the Tap Room's procedures.
  • Control food cost and usage by following proper requisition of products from storage areas, product storage procedures, standard recipes, and waste control procedures.
  • Oversee and ensure that Tap Room's policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floor, mats, walls, and other equipment and food storage areas.


What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications



  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in varied kitchen positions including the role of a kitchen manager, Restaurant Manager or Head Chef
  • Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients
  • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
  • Experience designing vegan and gluten-free menu items
  • Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends
  • Ability to reach, bend, squat, and frequently move up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time


Preferred Qualifications



  • Conflict management experience
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
  • Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus
