Jail Psychiatric Services (JPS) is a satellite contract program of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The program provides traditional inpatient and outpatient mental health services to inmates incarcerated inside the two Sacramento County jails located in downtown Sacramento and in Elk Grove, and also provides Jail Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) services to inmates charged with felony crimes and deemed incompetent to stand trial by the court (PC 1370).

Responsibilities
The Supervising Licensed Clinicial Social Worker is part of a multi-disciplinary team providing services to inmates at the Sacramento County Main Jail. The role of this position is to supervise clinical and support staff providing outpatient mental health services and provide assistance to the Program Director in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program policies and procedures. This position also provides clinical social work evaluations, individual and group counseling, monitoring of medication side effects under the direction of a Psychiatrist, case management, crisis intervention, documentation, consultation, training, education and referral.

Special Requirements
Ability to work in a highly stressful jail custody setting, with incarcerated inmates which may present hazardous conditions, including working in a potentially crowded, malodorous, and noisy environment, of a highly restrictive and confining nature. Must be in good physical health, hear and speak well. Willingness to work under an institutional "No Hostage Policy." Ability to pass and maintain the Sacramento Sheriff Department's Security Clearance. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, as scheduled and assigned.This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
