CommScope is looking for Field Engineering Specialist. This role will allow you to work remotely from anywhere in the US. Our ideal incumbent will be based close to a major US airport.

How You'll Help Us Connect The World:

As a member of our Integrated Solutions & Microwave team, you will work in collaboration with engineers, technical assistants, project managers, and departments. This role drives the performance of RF safety studies, field measurements, troubleshooting, site surveys, path surveys and completing preliminary microwave design. In addition, this position will fix field interference issues using a spectrum analyzer and will interact directly with the end customer to resolve interference and signal level-related issues. More specifically this involves

  • Perform RF measurements and RF safety evaluations using a spectrum analyzer or other test equipment
  • Conduct path surveys in the field to verify line-of-sight objectives. These are completed in multiple frequency bands such as 6GHz, 11GHz, 18GHz and 23GHz
  • Conduct site surveys to identify antenna placement locations and equipment requirements for a microwave installation
  • Fix and document resolution of interference related issues.
  • Serve as liaison between client, industry consultants and internal engineering staff. To be successful in this role, one must consistently exhibit good customer service skills. This includes satisfactory turn-around time on projects, good organization, keeping the client advised of work status, and being adaptable to client requests.
  • Candidates must also be able to travel extensively (up to 80% of the time) and function autonomously in the field. Travel will be needed when conducting path surveys or field measurements. You will be required to stand, drive, walk and sit for an extended period while preforming duties. Candidates will be required to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
  • HS Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of experience including prior telecom field experience working outdoors in remote locations
  • Experience with Point-to-Point Microwave path and site surveys
  • Experience with geographic coordinate systems and map datums
  • Proficiency in Windows suite of office tools and in the use of related field equipment such as laser range finder, theodolite and GPS
You will excite us if you have:
  • Associates Degree or NCO
  • Demonstrated understanding of interference analysis, microwave design, RF power density measurements, RF propagation and technologies such as LTE and 5G
  • Previous military experience (Air Force-3D1X3, Army-25P/25S, Navy-ET-14CM/ ET-1433)
  • FCC amateur radio license
  • Prior experience using Pathloss and with spectrum analyzer.

Anticipated annual base salary range dependent on experience and qualifications: $60,000 - $75,000
