Position Summary:
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. Design & Construction Services role is to support the University's strategic plan through the design and construction of new and renovated facilities. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced engineering professional to operate independently in a professional specialized engineering phase of major construction projects, reviews design engineering work for projects of various scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, prioritizing, supervising and checking the work of design professionals (consultants to the University) engaged in the planning, design and construction process. The incumbent also may represent the University at meetings and conferences related to the physical development of University and Medical Center projects.

$78,900-$145,100

Required:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience, including 2 years of responsible design or peer review work with similar responsibilitiesMinimum of 4 years of experience, including 2 years of responsible design or peer review work with similar responsibilities
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Professional engineering license required.
  • Demonstrated organizational and decision-making abilities to manage competing priorities.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with general guidelines. Strong project management skills needed to ensure high quality and timely completion of design and construction projects. Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Thorough knowledge necessary to apply principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner; identify challenges and barriers and recommend resolutions. Thorough knowledge associated with independently performing the full range of engineering professional work.
Preferred:
  • LEED certified - preferred
  • DBIA professional - preferred.
  • Previous experience working in OSHPD -1 healthcare facilities. Knowledge of design-build processes.
Special Conditions Required:
  • Must have a valid CA Driver's license and participate in DMV pull notice program
  • Must be able to wear PPE
  • Must be able work outside of regularly scheduled shift
  • Must comply with UC vaccine policy.
