Job Summary: This person will work within the Trade and Distribution team and be responsible for delivering level service for many aspects of the trade departments responsibilities.
The Senior Manager, Trade & Distribution Operations works with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate access and access solutions for patients and providers. Establishes and manages ongoing business relationships with 3PL while analyzing efficiency improvements and working with retail pharmacy and specialty pharmacies, specialty distribution partners to solve complex challenges.
This position works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the customer and distribution landscape. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for various projects and programs. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. Responsible for the management of all order processing activities and agreements related to the distribution of trade pharmaceutical products to direct customers. This position works cross-functionally to drive issue resolution, continuous improvement, and strategy implementation that bring value to Supernus and its trade channel customers.
The Senior Manager, Trade & Distribution works collaboratively across Order Fulfillment, Distribution & Warehousing and Logistics & Network Development to ensure seamless customer support for the US Operation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight to activities related to the management of Distribution including management of 3rd party logistic providers.
- Responsible for Risk assessment and mitigation of Trade Order Fulfillment Processes of the 3PL and aligning them with Supernus standards and practices.
- Monitors and maintain compliance to Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA), Good Manufacturing Practice, Distribution Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), Salable Returns, Safety Health and Environmental, Sarbanes-Oxley, business procedures, raising and addressing issues as they arise
- Implement distribution contracts and pull through strategies with customers to support current and future products.
- Drive utilization of products with QBR (3PL) meetings and additional persistency initiatives to optimize product-specific patient support programs
- Develop and implement performance requirements/metrics at the 3PL and distributor level to ensure timely access to Supernus medications; deliver high quality patient services in various pharmacy channels that align to brand objectives
- Maintain a deep understanding of the specialty pharmacy, retail pharmacy channels, and specialty distribution network; understand pharmacy capabilities and the competitive pharmacy marketplace to ensure that Supernus maintains an industry leading approach to patient support in the aforementioned channels.
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of new distribution initiatives and liaising between internal distribution and supply chain group to ensure process development and enhanced metric improvement is attained.
- Contribute to weekly distribution team meetings on important market issues such retail point of sale programs, unique contracting approaches for retail dispensing and other important trends impacting pharmacy dispensing
- Responsible for the development, analysis and publication of performance metrics and coordination of performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to the operational aspects of customer contracts: Wholesale Distribution Agreements, Specialty Distribution Agreements and Distribution Services Agreements
- Provide channel analytics reporting to Director of Trade to proactively manage performance standards to customer agreements
- Conducts scheduling and planning activity to ensure stock availability to meet internal/external customer needs
- Monitor orders and sales insight (daily)
- Executes the standard process to deliver product, in full, on time, ensuring standardized workflows
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Knowledge & Other Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree
- Minimum of 6+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and minimum of 3 years of contracting experience
- Experience in distribution, marketing, finance, sales management, and pharmacy contracting
- Understanding of the US commercial and government healthcare environment
- Understanding of ex-US distribution
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent Microsoft excel skills including ability to write complex formulas and simple macros
- Outstanding organizational skills and a strong attention to detail - ability to work on a variety of internal trade related projects which are result driven
