Position Summary Information
General Information |
James Madison University is accepting applications for a highly motivated, dedicated individual to serve as part of the IT-Information Systems Team supporting the university's applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and support of moderate to complex web-based and client server applications. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
This position will be responsible for full software development lifecycle efforts (analysis, design, development/integration, implementation and support) for complex projects related to University Information Systems. This position is telework eligible. |
Qualifications |
The successful candidate is required to have:
- Experience in an ERP environment such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, Ellucian Advance or other large integrated business applications.
- Experience with complex relational database designs and query languages such as SQL and PL/SQL.
- Experience working with Java, .NET or other current languages/frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience with software development in medium to large complex application environments.
- Demonstrated, excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Exceptional listening and communication skills; one who can effectively convey information verbally and in writing.
- Interpersonal skills for building effective business relationships with customers and stakeholders that lead to successful requirements gathering and timely fulfillment of solutions.
- The flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments while effectively prioritizing and juggling multiple concurrent projects.
- Highly analytical thinking skills with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving and streamlining complex work processes.
- Innovative problem-solving skills that lead to workable solutions and swift resolution.

Notice of Availability - Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by
JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
