The UC Davis Small Animal Surgical departments are comprised of teams of the nation's leading professionals. Our teams are led by world-renown, board certified surgeons and veterinarians who work side-by-side with highly skilled veterinary technicians. Together, we share a passion in providing clinical instruction as well as hands-on training to residents and students. Our services provide innovative and cutting-edge surgery to patients with the use of high-end technology. We offer various forms of surgical intervention including but not limited to maxillofacial reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery, and joint replacement. This position is part of a dedicated team who takes pride in the meaningful contributions made towards future veterinarians and veterinary specialists, and who want to make a difference in the world of veterinary medicine. Independent of supervision in a hospital setting, as a significant part of daily duties, responsible for treatment of patients with life-threatening illness or injury, whose conditions are likely to change on a moment-to-moment basis, and inducing and monitoring anesthesia. Facilitate the daily receiving and the daily surgery schedule of patients. Responsible for performing patient's pre-operative diagnostics, surgical preparation, and circulating in the OR as a surgical assistant. Perform patient care and write/review patient treatment sheets, and pick up pharmaceuticals from in house pharmacy. Communicate with clients, client education, and admit and discharge of patients. Occasionally be responsible for scheduling surgical appointments and recheck appointments, as well as reviewing client estimates. Applicants will be screened on a weekly basis.
