Job Description:


Job Summary

Assist Head Coach with all facets of the men's soccer program, primarily by: instructing student-athletes on soccer skills and techniques, educating on soccer rules and NCAA requirements, assessing comprehension of skills, techniques and rules and providing additional instruction as appropriate, and preparing team for competition and practice.

Assistant coach must perform duties in compliance with all College, Patriot League, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with all aspects of student-athlete development and performance of the men's intercollegiate soccer program, to include:
  • Organizing, recruitment/evaluation of student-athletes
  • Conducting and supervising practices and player conditioning
  • Scouting of future opponents
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of game strategies
  • Mentoring and providing appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes
  • Creating productive environment for the student-athlete welfare
  • Optimizing technology (e.g.., scouting, recruiting)
  • Assist with oversight and administrative functions within the men's intercollegiate soccer program
  • Instruct, coach and recruit talented goalkeepers

Adhering to all conference and NCAA rules/requirements relevant to the conduct of the intercollegiate soccer program
  • Overseeing team travel itineraries and follow up paperwork
  • Documenting team CARA and additional NCAA practice/competition regulations
  • Representing the Department of Athletics at designated College, departmental and community functions
  • Encouraging staff and student-athletes to participate in community outreach activities
  • Promote the College's commitment to customer service by:
  • Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the College by freely sharing appropriate information and aiding when needed
  • Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Administrative duties as assigned, including, but not limited to:
  • Collaborating with coach to develop annual goals for the program
  • Maintaining records
  • Effectively communicating with coaches, prospects and parents
  • Assisting with fundraising, marketing and promotional activities
  • Administering sport camps as directed by head coach and/or Athletics Administration



Requirements:


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of techniques and strategies of the sport
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and academics success
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting nationally/internationally through an established network
  • Experience working effectively in diverse environments
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of domestic club programs and international recruiting network
  • Proficient in video editing
  • Two to five years successful experience in soccer coaching, recruiting and administration in a NCAA Division I, II or III program

Additional Considerations:
  • Experience in recruiting and coaching goalkeepers
  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student-athlete welfare
  • Commitment to ensure compliance with all NCAA and College rules and regulations

  • Understands, values and respects diversity within the team and fosters an inclusive and supportive environment
