Job Description

The Industry Marketing Manager monitors and develops market insights, critical competitive intelligence, market trends, and consumption drivers, and sustainable steel opportunities, value proposition, and messaging. Other responsibilities include identifying key market, customer, and competitive trends to assist with the development and execution of short and long-term company strategies and special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts project work on market research and industry history.
  • Gathers and prepares data for the strategic plan.
  • Value proposition analysis and related presentations.
  • Develops market insights needed to grow our strategic markets and customers.
  • Conducts research to help create product marketing strategies and content, notably pertaining to our sustainability and ESG advantages.
  • Executes ad-hoc research projects via hands-on, in-house research as well as in partnership with external market research firms and/or contractors as appropriate.
  • Identifies new business opportunities, markets, applications, and end-uses for products based on customer, competitor, and end-use usage trends.
  • Works with Director - Marketing to identify, analyze, and interpret key markets, competition, and industry trends and insights on a regional and global level to support key business decisions.
  • Works with Sales team to gather market intelligence and provide intelligence to appropriate groups.
  • Participates in strategic and tactical plans aligned to Industrial Hot Rolled, Line Pipe, and Service Centers.
  • Provides support in defining strategies within adjacent industries.
  • Helps develop marketing collateral associated with the launch of new products.
  • Participates in industry-oriented professional organizations, trade press shows, and conferences as needed to increase market awareness of USS capabilities.
  • Provides input to Sales as part of the Account Plans, and collaborates in Joint Business Plan development
  • Completes ad-hoc projects on request for market, product, or competitor information.
  • Communicates research findings and recommendations clearly and concisely through written documentation and/or presentations.
  • Develops long-range forecasts for specific product segments to help identify loading scenarios.
  • Maintains monthly industry statistics.

Requirements:

  • At least five years proven experience in Marketing, Sales, Business Planning, Operations or Quality
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, marketing or a closely related field
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make logical judgments
  • MicroSoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and foster cross functional teamwork
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or related area of study
  • 3+ years of marketing, sales or management consulting experience, with demonstrated proficiency in crafting creative, inspiring, solution-driven stories that communicate complex concepts simply.
  • Successful candidate will have experience in creating and implementing new approaches to marketing strategy and will demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in solving problems, as well as a comfort in managing through ambiguity.
  • Candidate will have a preference for a fast-paced and dynamic environment; a track record working effectively with cross-functional teams and prioritizing short- and longer-term strategic initiatives.
  • Candidate will show a passion for understanding the customer and digging in to identify client needs and solutions.
  • Additional requirements include: outstanding communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills and a proficiency in MS Office and other productivity and research tools.
