This role makes you accountable for leading and/or contributing to subsystem designs for the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) used in space habitats of all types. In other words, you will help us keep those millions of people alive! This means designing, fabricating, testing, and integrating life support subsystems. You will also represent your system in cross-functional trades and impact studies for architectures and vehicles that you support. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork.

We are looking for people of all skill levels. This opportunity reports to the Systems Engineering Section inside of the Advanced Development Programs ADP business unit. Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end ownership of one of the following Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) subsystems in various in space applications: Air Handling and Revitalization, Water Recovery Systems, Waste Management, Fire Detection & Suppression, Air and Water Quality Monitoring, Controls and Software, Human in the Loop Development and Testing.
  • Own all the things you'd expect a system engineer to own: studies, concept development, interface development, procurement, requirements, integration, and operations support
  • Coordinate with leads from systems and programs to ensure seamless integration with your hardware
  • Manage the development program (cost, schedule, technical) via subcontractors(s) and/or internal staff

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental or related engineering field
  • The ability to use advanced engineering skills to design, develop, and evaluatethe ECLSS sub-systems listed
  • Strong ability and desire to analyze complex systems and deliver solutions to results-oriented problems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired (but not required):

  • Successful candidates typically havetypically have5 or more years of relevant experience
  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Electrical, or related technical subject area
  • Experience with aircraft or spacecraft life support/environmental control (ECLSS) technologies and architectures
  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Estimated salary wage (Colorado only):$110K-$168K
