Who you are:

Education/Experience:

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience and an Associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent experience preferred (or),
  • Three to five years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must possess fundamental knowledge of project management processes and methods, together with the technology (experience with a PPM tool) to use in order to effectively manage projects.
  • Must have excellent collaboration, "customer service," documentation, time management / multitasking, conflict resolution, and problem solving/crisis management skills.
  • Ability to motivate or influence inside or outside senior level personnel, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues.
  • A Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or equivalent / higher project management certification and other technical certifications desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Symitar system operations and other Jack Henry systems preferred.
  • Financial institution / industry exposure and experience is strongly desired.

What you'll do:

The IT Project Manager is responsible for ensuring, via management and coordination, that projects stay within scope, on time, and within budget. This position leads project activities between business units and the Information Technology team(s) to support business activities, installation of systems and applications, and completion of project tasks / deliverables.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead technical and business unit projects to support the IT Operational Plan. Coordinate and complete projects in the Information Technology department.
  • Coordinate and manage the work activities for multiple functions to ensure successful completion of project work.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle: initiating, planning, scope definition, design, execution, delivery, and closure.
  • Track progress of tasks against milestones, budgetary guidelines or other performance indicators, and prepare reports to senior management.
  • Coordinates Project Management framework / methodology familiarization to team members including policies, procedures, work flows, templates, and tools.
  • Assist with the identification of key project risks and the resolution of technical challenges that arise during the project.
  • Create and compile project status reports and manage / facilitate project update meetings. Communicates updates to project sponsors.
  • Manage associated [project-related] programming development tasks to enhance and integrate business systems in the credit union to drive efficiency and member value.
  • Identify and analyze business systems within and across business units for functionality consolidation and configuration optimization.
  • Promote and facilitate adherence to organizational project governance processes.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with IT department personnel and management, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, portfolio status reporting, and other important information.
  • May assist with the research, selection, negotiation, and management of external consultants / vendors.
  • Apply knowledge of and experience with the Credit Union's products and services to project activities.
  • Respond to management administrative requests in a timely manner.
  • May be asked to mentor colleagues or matrix-managed resources.
  • Be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC and Patriot Act.
  • Establishes and implements project management processes and methodologies for the IT community to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high-quality standards and meet customer expectations. Manages technical and non-technical aspects of the project. Plans, schedules, and ensures timely completion of the project. Assembles project teams, and manages resource allocation and day-to-day operations of the project. Serves as liaison between team members and management team regarding projects.
