Responsibilities
The Research Administrator position reports directly to the Division Manager who has oversight of the clinical, educational, and research activities of the afore-mentioned divisions. This position will work closely and collaboratively with faculty (principal investigators), trainees and staff located on both the Davis and Sacramento campuses. This position serves as key pre-award and compliance expert in University Policy and Procedure for grants, contracts, and financial and personnel procedures as they relate to intra - and extramural funding. Independently gathers, manages, and analyzes award data from a variety of revenue streams, including federal grants, private grants, gifts and other funding sources. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining research data associated with the research awards.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated pre- and post-award experience
  • Advanced experience with electronic grant applications including eRA Commons, MyNCBI, Cayuse SP, Cayuse424, ProposalCentral, FastLane, and Foundation portals.
  • Experience with budget preparation and guidelines for Federal, State, and private granting agencies
  • Experience writing, editing, and comprehending scientific data for preparation of research grant proposals. Proofreading experience to identify errors and ability to correct errors and produce error-free work. Must be detail oriented.
  • Experience coordinating, producing, and executing contract/agreement and grant submissions to Federal, State, industry foundations and various funding agencies.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend and comply with State and Federal guidelines, policies and procedures as it relates to the submission and management of contract and grant applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with independent judgment to research, analyze, troubleshoot, and problem solve inquiries and concerns in an objective and constructive manner; excellent problem solving skills and ability to provide conflict resolution without guidance.
  • Experience simultaneously organizing projects and to set priorities to effect project completion within stated deadlines; ability to complete tasks accurately, neatly and quickly under pressure of deadlines and other duties.
  • Experience analyzing financial data and reports and make meaningful conclusions. Ability to solve problems quickly. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with changing priorities, demanding workload, and complete projects within required deadlines. Ability to use independent judgment to make logical decisions.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to independently and proficiently assume responsibility for coordinating and completing complex projects, including requiring interactions with many internal parties in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Experience with time management principles and take the initiative to prioritize and follow tasks through to completion within required deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, use independent and mature judgment, work independently with limited supervision, and be committed to team building, quality assurance and process improvement.
  • Advanced computer skills to quickly and accurately produce a wide variety of material.
  • Advance knowledge of software programs such as MS Office: Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Organizational skills to determine manage and meet priorities and deadlines. Ability to development of timelines and work plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
