Start your summer with a new job as a Virginia state employee. The George Mason University, Facilities Department, is ready to hire a Customer Service and Operations Center Specialist. Responsibilities:
A detailed, fast, and service-oriented Customer Service and Operations Center Specialist who can route work orders in a busy operations center. Our students, faculty, and staff depend on our facilities maintenance team to respond to their needs. You will be the person who gets the information out to our crew.
Here's what the job looks like:

  • You will use your demonstrated customer service skills by taking in work orders through walk-ins, phone calls, MS Teams requests, or by an app;
  • You will assign and close out work orders. It's a lot, sometimes up to 100+ per day, but that's the fun and challenge;
  • You will enter data into our CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) work order system;
  • You will answer questions regarding the status of work order requests; and
  • You will run reports and provide updates to the management team.

Now, fast forward one year. You have made a noticeable contribution to the educational facilities of a major university. You'll be busy, but don't worry. In December, you'll have two weeks off for a paid holiday. Yes, this is in addition to the other GMU holidays, great benefits, and retirement plan. Please note - the two-week winter break employees often receive during the holiday season is not regularly guaranteed and is subject to annual approval. We know, it's a great gig. That's why we are looking for the best and want you to join us.
Required Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Some (typically 1-2 years) clerical or secretarial experience; and
  • Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 .
