We are currently hiring a Sr. Manager, Logistics in Breinigsville, PA.

The Sr. Manager, Logistics is responsible for owning Boston Beer Company freight spend including inbound & outbound freight, interplant movements, as well as wholesaler returns. This individual is responsible for developing and executing a transportation strategy designed to support the growth of the Boston Beer Company, delivering exceptional service to internal and external customers and driving annual cost savings efforts.

What You'll Brew:



  • Develop and execute the 1/3/5-year Transportation Strategy aligned with company objectives
  • Oversee & optimize all freight processes:

    • Outbound, interplant, wholesaler returns and other movements
    • Freight accrual, freight auditing & freight claims process
    • Optimize, schedule, and tender freight to align with customer and brewery goals
    • Determine mode selection to maximize BBC Transportation goals

  • Develop and track KPIs to drive tangible improvements within the Transportation Team and across the Boston Beer Supply Chain
  • Develop freight forecasts and flight schedules designed to automate load bookings
  • Become Transportation Subject Matter Expert for BBC. Enhance relationships with carriers, software providers, and BBC Supply Chain.
  • Proactively communicate service issues to internal and external customers. Design action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Own and manage the Freight P&L. Lead Logistics Charter Team projects, responsible for delivering cost savings targets. Partner with Procurement to lead carrier selection process designed to deliver low cost/high service
  • Own carrier KPIs. Develop strategies for service improvements. Develop processes for non-performing carriers. Build rapport with carrier base to elicit win-win scenarios and increase transportation capability and capacity.
  • Establish strong relationships with leaders across BBC/Carrier/Wholesaler Supply Chains, work to increase relationships across functional areas and teams. Partner with Supply Chain Transformation Team to develop best practices in Transportation.


What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • BS or BA in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Management, Logistics or related
  • 10+ years in Logistics Management or Supply Chain management
  • Emphasis on experience in working for or with freight companies, negotiating transportation contracts, implementation of Transportation Management Software, analyzing/developing sourcing options
  • Data analysis experience along with Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel needed


Preferred Qualifications:



  • SAP and Navisphere experience a plus
  • Ensure SMAC Development and Performance goals in place for self and all direct reports
  • Conduct regular meetings with manager and direct reports in order to:

    • Review progress against performance and development goals
    • Provide avenue for ongoing coaching and feedback

  • MBA
  • APICS Certification
