Lead Teacher (4 yr old Classroom)
Job Summary

Under supervision of the School Leader, responsible for the total classroom operation per Federal Head Start Performance Standard 1304.21 and any additional standard referring to classroom activity. Provides day-to-day direction of assigned Teacher II and is responsible for involving the Teacher II in planning and execution of daily class room activities.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

* Comply with the education content mandates of the Head Start Performance Standards, program assessment, and work plans.

* Administer Ages and Stages Questionnaires for initial developmental screening.

* Utilize Curriculum software to track each child's ongoing developmental skill level in the domains as required by the Head Start Performance Standards.

* Utilize CAP-selected classroom support model to assist with classroom management.

* Work cooperatively with all CAP employees, Family Support personnel, Parents, Volunteers and collaborative partners.

* Conduct at least two home visits and parent conferences, per child, within the allotted time period. Participate in Family Child Review meetings once a month or as required.

* Develop a daily schedule and weekly lesson plans based on observations, parental input, and developmentally appropriate practice.

* Develop goals utilizing individualization form to meet each child's developmental needs.

* Complete required documentation including, but not limited to: Monthly Reports, Attendance, InKind, Meal Count, Family Contacts, and Child Injury Reports.

* Meet Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC accreditation standards and DHS licensing requirements.

* Understand and utilize Agency curriculum for developmentally appropriate instruction.

* Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Required Education/Experience

4 year old Classroom

State of Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood

AND

Bachelors Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood Education

OR

Bachelors Degree (or Higher) in any subject with a minimum of 36 early childhood equivalent college credit hours as defined by NAEYC Standards with experience teaching Pre-School age children

PLUS

Trained in infant and toddler development within 1 year of hire or transfer

Infant and toddler training is equivalent to 4 Modules PITC training. All employees must be in compliance with this within first year of employment or transfer

Teachers in OECP classrooms on an IDP to get CDA cannot move into an EHS room until the plan is complete and the CDA is earned

NAEYC equivalent coursework includes early childhood; elementary education; special education; child development and learning birth through kindergarten; family and community relationships; observing, documenting, and assessing young children; teaching and learning; and professional practices and development, including relevant field-based experience

Experience working with infant, toddler or pre-school children

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

* Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.

* Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.

* Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.

* Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.

* Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.

* Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.

Essential Physical & Mental Requirements

Classroom position with some local travel (exposure to normal traffic hazards). Work requires bending, stooping, lifting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, stretching, pushing and pulling throughout the day. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Regular and reliable attendance required.
