If so, Prince William County Community Service is seeking full time Autonomous Practice Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Manager to deliver quality care in an outpatient setting. Prince William County offers generous benefits package. A successful candidate will have a VA medical license in good standing, as well as prescriptive authority, DEA certification. This position provides direct patient care to patients with various psychiatric diagnoses in clinics located at Manassas and Woodbridge locations.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The Nurse Practitioner will work as part of a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health team providing assessments and treatment to SMI patients. The Nurse Practitioner will medically manage a wide range of adult/ child and adolescent diagnoses. The Nurse Practitioner will have several supportive therapists and case managers working with the caseload and will be part of our multidisciplinary teams that work collaboratively to provide professional and evidence-based treatments to our community. The Nurse Practitioner will supervise and manage nursing staff providing administrative and clinical support.

Job Responsibilities include:



  • Conduct thorough Psychiatric evaluations to assess clinical needs of patients
  • Manage medications in a safe and effective manner
  • Order labs, referrals, and further work up to ensure safe medical practice
  • Document psychiatric evaluations to include consents, AIMS, review of systems on day of service
  • Complete medication review notes on day of service
  • Sign verbal orders and lab results within 48 hours of receiving
  • Sign treatment plans within 48 hours of receiving
  • Communicate clearly with nurses when giving verbal orders for medications, medication adjustments, or refills
  • Communicate clearly when ordering labs, referrals, further workup
  • Communicate clearly instructions to be given pharmacists, patients/caregivers
  • Attend monthly medical staff meetings
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers and other team members working with the patient
  • Collaborate with other providers involved in patient's care, pharmacists, family or residential staff to ensure safe management of patient's clinical needs
  • Provide bi-weekly administrative and clinical supervision to nursing staff
  • Submit timesheets and performance evaluations of supervisees in timely manner

Education/Experience Requirements:


  • Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited school
  • Passed National Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam as recognized by the Joint Boards of Nursing and Medicine
  • Unencumbered VA license in good standing
  • 2 years of experience practicing psychiatry post training
  • Autonomous Practice with Prescriptive Authority


SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Monday - Friday flexible schedule available

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must pass DMV record check
  • Must pass TB test
  • Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprint based National Criminal History Record Check
  • Certification in First Aide and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, as required
  • Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services


ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $99,000 - $135,000
