Job Summary

The Administrative Analyst uses skills as an administrative professional to manage and provide support to our Pediatric Access Center, BCH Nursing Supervisors, Central Patient Placement, and Mission Bay Staffers.

The position reports to the Unit Manager. Must be able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining critical attention to detail. As such, the individual must be diligent, accurate, efficient, and have a strong work ethic. They must be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, independently analyze issues, work with a moderate level of autonomy, and be exceedingly well-organized.

Needs to be flexible and have the ability to perform a variety of duties to address unmet needs and identify future needs. Must demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.


The incumbent will serve as the primary recipient for non-urgent advice calls to BCH Mission Bay and BCH Oakland. In addition, they will provide general administrative support to the Director and Pediatric Access Center Staff, which includes but is not limited to: telephone and email correspondence, calendar maintenance, scheduling meetings, AllScripts purchasing, expense tracking and invoicing, data collection, review, and preparation of reports, special project support, management of office and supplies, and general clerical work.

Lastly, the analyst may provide backup to the other analyst and MB Staffers during lunch hours, time off, and absences.

Department Description

The Pediatric Access Center Cost Center includes a staff of 35 team members which comprise: a) the Pediatric Access Center Nurses; b) the BCH Nursing Supervisors/Central Patient Placement Nurses; and c) the Mission Bay Staffers.

Collectively these three teams facilitate the staffing and coordination of patient movement via the BCH SF/OAK Integrated Pediatric Access Center, Mission Bay Helipad, Pediatric Medical Transport Team, Peri-Operative Services, Emergency Rooms, and Direct Admissions. Continuous collaboration with UCSF Physicians, Nursing Units, Case Management, In-house Patient Transport, and Hospitality are synchronized to facilitate patient flow and timely placement of patients.

Required Qualifications


  • One year related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience / training
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a team, ability to communicate clearly with a wide variety of constituents
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assigned duties; ability to work well under pressure; ability to maintain a service-oriented approach
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
