Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure

Position Responsibilities

As a senior member of the Platform Reliability Engineering team, you will work on scaling our systems, building automation, and drive operational improvements for Deltek's US Restricted (FedRAMP) SaaS offerrings. We are seeking a driven individual with a passion delivering an outstanding customer experience through an engineering and automation-first mindset.

  • Administration and management of a variety of cloud resources on both AWS and Azure.
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Provide support and guidance to internal SaaS teams on how to build and operate complex services
  • Build creative engineering solutions to operations and infrastructure problems, focusing on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and eliminating work through automation.
  • Determine how our systems relate to each other and use a breadth of tools and approaches to solve a variety of problems
  • Analysis and troubleshooting of complex infrastructure issues, server fault diagnosis, resolution of server issues, and interaction with vendor support teams.
  • Serves as a partner to Product Engineering, Product Management, Cloud Delivery, and Project Management Office (PMO) in providing technical leadership, solution design, adoption of CI/CD tools, and instilling best practices to help drive efficiency gains.
  • Provides clear and consistent communication and guidance to Cloud Senior Leadership and key business stakeholders regarding opportunities for innovation, risks areas, and trends to watch.
  • Enforcing and enacting access management procedures and processes.
  • Monitoring resources using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Collaborating with Global SRE and other cross-functional teams to support 24 x 7 operations and the customer experience.
  • Participating in maintenance activities and on-call rotations as required.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • 5+ years of hands-on systems engineering (Windows or Linux), database administration, software development, or architecture experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise cloud infrastructure at scale (AWS and Azure) through CI/CD solutions, automation and configuration management, infrastructure as code, microservices, containers, orchestration, and systems operations.
  • 3+ years working in a role with a strong focus on building DevOps solutions and contributing to cloud architectures
  • Hands-on experience using infrastructure-as-code, self-healing, security automation patterns.
  • Experience with automated continuous integration and builds (CI/CD) using Jenkins, Git, CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible and other modern tools.
  • Strong technical proficiency to effectively troubleshoot and solve problems in a complex multi-platform environment
  • Understanding of Internet based technologies (DNS, Load Balancing, Security, IP Routing, SSH, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, etc.)
  • Extensive experience managing applications based on a variety of common technology stacks (Microsoft, LAMP, WebLogic, Oracle, SQL, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Splunk, PRTG, SolarWinds DPA, Nagios, CloudWatch, Azure Analytics, and/or PagerDuty.
  • A love of metrics and statistics
  • Excellent communicator - Communicate with simple messages, craft compelling business cases, and establish trust and credibility with stakeholders.
