Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting in the assessment of the Company's system of internal controls specifically relating to Sarbanes-Oxley, including planning, documentation, testing, assessment of control deficiencies and assistance in correcting deficiencies noted. Position will work closely with all departments to ensure the Company's internal control assessment is performed in accordance with Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review the company's internal control system including the following items:
    1. Perform testing of key internal controls.
    2. Update/Create flowcharts of system processes.
    3. Identify, document and communicate control deficiencies.
    4. Assist in the process of correcting deficiencies noted.
    5. Assist in the walkthrough and update of control assessment documents (CADs).
    6. Stay current with new pronouncements, both accounting and Sarbanes Oxley related, to ensure all are addressed in the Company's internal control assessment.
    7. Special Projects such as assist in the implementation of internal controls in new or changing business process.
  2. Provides quality service to customers, whether internal or external.
  3. Demonstrates cooperative efforts in working with other departments and within own department.
  4. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to request from other bank personnel, customers, internal and external auditors etc., within given timeframes and within established policy.
  5. Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  6. Position requires some travel.
  7. Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures and internal controls, and meet all job-specific requirements in a timely fashion.

Ancillary Duties:

As an integral member of the Accounting Department, this position is responsible for providing assistance whenever necessary to help the Accounting Department and the bank to achieve goals. Successful candidates must work in excess of standard hours when necessary.


Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Good understanding of risks and controls for both Information Technology and Business Processes.
  • Detail oriented and able to work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
  • One to three years' experience in a Sarbanes Oxley, internal audit or accounting. Financial institution experience preferred.
