Manage the day-to-day financial operational functions of the division, including Accounts Payable supervision, corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and Payroll administration. Ensure Corporate Accounting policies are in place and followed.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, mentor and manage individuals and team to ensure top performance of all team members in achieving desired results while finding efficient and effective solutions that create overall organizational value.
  • Manage month-end-close process accurately and timely in conjunction with corporate deadlines
  • Supervise associates' detailed and analytical explanations of variances in actual financial data compared to forecasted results
  • Supervise payroll process and ensure the accuracy of payroll submissions and the proper record retention for auditing purposes
  • Possess complete understanding of the Accounting Policy Manual and ensure that policies are complied with
  • Ability to assist with and/or create project proformas
  • Review HOA and Clubhouse financials
  • Prepare and review Joint Venture financials
  • Responsible for monthly budget review
  • Aid in the preparation of annual business plans and periodic updates as well as long-term planning (forecasts)
  • Review and ensure the proper recording, maintenance and update of all job cost budget revisions
  • Prepare community and division level variance analysis
  • Provide help in the preparation of sales price releases of active communities
  • Monitor sales activity through weekly traffic, sales, starts and closings report
  • Provide weekly and monthly statistical/financial reporting to Division Management
  • Projects assigned by Corporate, Division President or Controller
  • Supervise the processing and auditing (e.g. coding, approvals, lien releases and insurance requirements) of all accounts payable invoices
  • Supervise the processing of manual checks
  • Interview and recruit Accounting team
  • Responsible for, along with the Controller, providing associates with ongoing, timely, candid and constructive feedback; developing associates to their full potential
  • Develop performance improvement plans if an associate's performance is not meeting expectations
  • Ability to effectively manage staff through ensuring appropriate staffing, providing formal and informal evaluations/feedback, addressing associate issues when warranted and providing appropriate training and mentoring
  • Manage month-end-close process, payable process, etc
  • Organize and prioritize work activities while utilizing efficient time management skills in meeting deadlines and staying on schedule
  • Manage revenue, cost of sales, and balance sheet package
  • Supervise audits


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field required, CPA preferred
  • Three years minimum related accounting and financial experience, including homebuilding experience required
  • Advanced computer skills - Microsoft Word and Excel, including the use of Hyperion, EssBase, Smart View and JD Edwards
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Professionally perform multiple, detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
  • Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills as well as supervisory skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision


Physical Requirements

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry materials and supplies weighing 25 lbs or less. Finger dexterity is necessary.

Additional Requirements

Ability to professionally perform multiple, detail-orientated tasks; good written, verbal and organizational skills; able to follow directions from a supervisor.
