CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

The Global Marcom Director is responsible for the strategic development and tactical execution of the Sherwin-Williams P&M global brand strategy, as well as the tactical execution of the segment and portfolio communication strategies in North America and globally. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Marketing, Regional and Global Segment and Portfolios Directors, Regional Leadership, include working directly with USCA regional leadership, Regional Marketing Teams and vertical USCA leaders in Marine, Rail and Project Development to translate business strategies into marketing communication campaigns through the use of Performance Coatings Group (PCG) Creative Services and Digital Marketing teams as well as third party agencies to communicate the value proposition of our products and programs to reach and exceed financial goals, relative to sales and profitability. This position will also be responsible for optimizing internal communications to drive better awareness of strategic programs and services.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to the following:



  • Leadership

    • Direct management of the USCA Marcom team including three (3) marcom managers and (1) marcom specialist.
    • Dotted line management of EMEAI and LATAM marcom teams through respective regional Marketing Director.

  • Strategic Marketing

    • Support divisional leadership and Vice President of Marketing on creation of long-term Strategic Plan for division and bridge those strategies to the shorter-term annual Operating Plan.
    • Translate business growth requirements into actionable marketing communications strategies with defined target audience, meaningful differentiation, and appropriate activities to execute.
    • Work with Regional and Global Segment and Portfolio Directors to create annual marketing communications plans that achieve segment and portfolio growth.

  • Global Marketing Management

    • Develop and maintain brand standards globally.
    • Develop and maintain global brand continuity across the four regionals (USCA, LATAM, EMEAI and APAC) relative to collateral, web presence, media, and campaigns.
    • Lead the communication of key initiatives from Division's annual operating plan to internal teams via sales meeting speeches, quarterly updates, and content, powerpoints, and webinars to ensure alignment toward business goals.
    • Oversee Marcom budgets for each regional to ensure strategic programs and services are properly funded on an annualized basis
    • Creation of a global brand positioning specific to the "global core" line available in all regions.
    • Ensure the sharing of best practices relative to the creation of campaigns, lead generation tactics, internal communication, Pitch Sales Plays and website and social media activation and adapting messages while maintaining consistency wherever possible.

  • Campaign Execution (new product launches, segment demand gen campaigns, promotions, trade shows)

    • Coordinate and prioritize projects and requests and clearly communicate strategy, timeline and budgets for those projects to PCG Creative Services and Digital Marketing teams.
    • Leverage resources across teams and campaigns wherever possible to drive efficiencies and share best practices.
    • Measure campaign effectiveness and report both to divisional and group leadership and to peers in formal debrief sessions to drive continuous improvement.

  • Public Relations and Thought Leadership

    • Owner of and primary point of contact for relevant segment-specific trade press relationships.
    • Leverage PCG Creative Services team and/or agency partner(s) to write press releases. Manage approval process through division. Owner of release process either via wire service, email to target trade media list, either within team or using external agency.
    • Collaborate with PCG Digital Marketing team to ensure coordination of website with external announcements.
    • Coordinate divisional crisis communications with Corporate Communications as needed.
    • Own advertising/editorial calendar for USCA and manage syndication of content across owned, earned, and paid media venues
    • Work closely with sales organization to drive awareness and utilization of content, as well as ideation for new content

  • Internal communications

    • Coordinate ongoing communications to field sales and marketing and technical teams, including webinars and email newsletters.
    • Oversee divisional communication training.
    • Develop and maintain an annual USCA marketing calendar (including webinars, trade shows, editorial content, product launches, etc.) that is shared with the North America sales, marketing, and R&D teams.
    • Maintain divisional MySherwin pages as needed, working closely with Human Resources and Corporate Communications.

  • Sales Meeting / Customer Events

    • Meeting leadership for P&M attendee experience at Performance Coatings Group sales meeting in North America, including management of invitee list, coordination with group and divisional meeting team on utilization of online registration platform, and onsite check-in for all attendees.
    • Content and programming for P&M sales meeting in North America, with support of regional teams for LATAM, EMEAI, and APAC meetings as needed. Executive speeches, breakouts, giveaways/handouts, and guest speakers if applicable.
    • Support of vendor show content and programming with Associated Products Team.
    • Programming support for customer meetings held throughout the year, including but not limited to training events, group meetings, and product demonstrations.

  • Digital / Social

    • Own and publish content for regional web sites.
    • Work with regional marketing teams to optimize regional websites and Global Flooring Portfolio Director and regional marketing teams to optimize regional High Performance Flooring websites.
    • Further develop and implement a social media strategy leveraging the field sales, marketing, and R&D teams.
    • Collaborate with regional teams in EMEAI, LATAM and APAC on content sharing.
    • Collaborate with Director of Strategy on the utilization of mySW and Pro+ digital capabilities for USCA

    Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
