Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Terminal Maintenance Operator with 2+ years of terminal or marine operations in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Terminal Maintenance Operator role is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the terminal, pipeline, marine, and rail assets as applicable.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:




  • Maintenance and Repair. Overseeing the maintenance and repair of the terminal loading rack, storage and all equipment associated with terminal operations; keeping it in good working order and acceptable appearance



  • Product Movement. Overseeing receipt, storage, and distribution of petroleum products via pipeline, rail, and marine dock (if applicable), following all product movement, measurement and quality control procedures and for receiving, blending, distributing and storage of petroleum products, following all product movement and sampling procedures, and ensuring product quality standards are met.



  • Regulatory Compliance. Staying aware of petroleum terminal regulations and all environmental regulations, safety directives and operating procedures, to include Coast Guard, local, state and federal environmental agencies so that the terminal can assure compliance.



  • Customer Service. Maintaining a good relationship with all terminal customers and respond to their inquiries and needs as required.



  • Emergency Response. Responding to terminal, pipeline, rail and marine related emergencies when called upon to do so and participating in annual emergency response training drills.



  • Inventory Control Systems. Overseeing the operation of all computer inventory control systems and participate in any inventory issue investigations.



  • Inventory Control. Demonstrating proficiency in all typical functions such daily gain/loss tracking, setting up new accounts, issuing access cards, entering adjustments to inventory, running reports, and locking out accounts when instructed to do so by customers or the Scheduler.



  • And other duties as assigned.





Position Requirements:




  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.



  • 2+ years related experience in terminal, pipeline or marine operations preferred.



  • General knowledge of equipment and maintenance of pumps, meters, truck loading rack, and dock facility preferred.



  • General knowledge or experience in the petroleum industry is helpful.



  • Inventory control and/or accounting background a plus.



  • Familiarity with computerized inventory control systems and truck rack automation systems





Certificates & Licenses:




  • Some locations may be subject to the port security regulations set forth by the Transportation Security Administration and United States Coast Guard. Employment at certain locations may be contingent upon obtaining state specific licenses and/or a Transportation Worker Identification Credential.   • New York City Fire Department Certification, required within 4-6 months of hire

Essential Functions:




  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.



  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.



  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.





Physical & Safety Requirements:




  • This role is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.



  • This position requires the employee to regularly access and work at or around heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on-track rail equipment, petroleum product or other chemical fumes, airborne particles like dust or other chemicals, vibration, uneven terrain, and high noise level in the work environment.



  • The incumbent must meet medical criteria established by OSHA for emergency response.



  • Must be able and willing to spend on average 90% of ones time on his/her feet



  • Must be able to lift large, heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed times per day on average.



  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.



  • This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).



  • This position communicates with supervision and co-workers via VHF radio and hand signals.



  • The incumbent in this role must wear Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC) and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.



  • The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.



  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.



  • This position requires the ability to work comfortably and safely in the proximity to open water.



  • This position requires the ability to climb ladders (approx. 50 feet) and work comfortably and safely at heights for extended periods of time.



  • This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol regulations
