Position description

What's the job?

This position is responsible the general accounting function for business units who are internal customers of the Shared Service Center (SSC) as governed by the customer Master Service Agreement (MSA) and Statement of Work (SOW).

Responsibilities include: Monthly Close, Financial Reporting, and Controls & Compliance



  • Delivering high levels of customer service by providing helpful, friendly and informative communications. Being proactive in meeting customer needs and requirements
  • Leading monthly closings by preparing journal entry requests for Service Provider as needed, validating completeness of all postings, approving entries as necessary, analysing and reviewing balance sheet and P&L accounts
  • Leading the financial reporting process ensuring compilation of SIF packages by the Service Provider, BU and SSC are complete and compliant with all controls.
  • Preparing and supporting the preparation and integrity of financial, tax, treasury, and government reports on the customer's behalf.
  • Ensuring compliance by Service Provider, SSC and BU with Saint-Gobain's Internal Control Reference Framework and accounting guidelines established by GAAP and IFRS.
  • Participating on or leading initiatives to meet SSC & BU goals and objectives.
  • Leading identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities in coordination with Service Provider.
  • Participating on or leading customer-sponsored special projects.
  • Responding to financial and tax audit requests for information and insight with support of Service Provider.
  • Applying technical know-how to research and resolve accounting and accounting systems issues for BU while lending direction to Service Provider.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

What do you bring?



  • BS Business Administration/Accounting. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Professional Certification (CPA, CMA) is a plus
  • 5-7 years of general accounting experience in a large, complex international business is preferred. Prior experience servicing internal customers in a shared service utilizing outsourced service provider organization is a plus.
  • Experience with integrated ERP and financial reporting systems
  • Strong knowledge of and practical experience with internal controls is preferred.
  • Ability to operate within established accounting and reporting guidelines. Solid grasp of technical accounting principles with experience working with GAAP and IFRS is preferred.
  • Ability to hold a collaborative partnership with outsource Front Office and Tower Leads
  • Ability to coach outsourced team members, managing across company, geography, time zone, and culture. Ability to understand cultural differences
  • Process management skills for in-house and out-sourced staff and work
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong knowledge of and practical experience with internal controls is preferred.
  • Ability to operate within established accounting and reporting guidelines. Solid grasp of technical accounting principles with experience working with GAAP and IFRS is preferred.
