Under limited supervision, the Senior Accounting Analyst analyzes, compiles and coordinates monthly/quarterly financial and contractual reporting for assigned external and internal financing transactions; prepares quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements for assigned companies; takes lead in monitoring, reporting and ensuring contractual compliance with financing agreements. The Senior Accounting Analyst develops and/or analyzes management reports to illustrate trends in financial results for retrocession agreements administered by department, and ensures accurate, reliable and timely financial, contractual and management reporting.

Responsibilities

- Performs month-end/quarterly financial reporting functions as assigned, primarily those associated with Structured Finance financing transactions, including recording financial activity, creating various financial reports, analyzing data, preparing general ledger uploads and reconciling various general ledger accounts, agreements, balance sheets and income statement accounts. This includes coordination with other departments or subsidiary management personnel to obtain and compile required data, reconciling and recording financial results to general ledger, and analysis and compiling data based on a US GAAP and Statutory basis.

- Leads set-up activities/processes for new assigned agreements including verification of GAAP and statutory accounting for transaction and coordination with impacted departments as necessary (e.g. investments)

- Leads quarterly officer meetings for assigned subsidiaries. This includes coordination with multiple departments to obtain necessary information and with officers for agenda items as well as distribution of materials and maintaining notes and follow up items from meeting.

- Primary contact for third party financing partners for assigned transactions. Includes responding to adhoc information requests as well as ongoing reporting and contractual compliance. Assists with negotiations with financing partners and coordinates with multiple departments for their input. Assists with drafting transaction documents.

- Administers assigned internal retrocessions to include preparation and review of quarterly activity, recording activity in ledger, coordination with local offices to obtain variance analysis, coordinates/initiates settlements, reconciliation of treaty activity across affiliates and presents results at quarterly review meeting

- Coordinates and prepares the annual audited US GAAP financial statements and disclosures for assigned companies if required. Assist with coordinating responses to audit inquiries and support. Prepare quarterly unaudited US GAAP financial statements for assigned companies.

- Supports the department's internal control and audit compliance process. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining the department's internal control narratives and EUC and IPE/RR inventories, identifying and implementing improvements in processes and maintaining applicable sections of department procedure documentation, and leading the coordination of both internal and external audit requests.

- Coordinates and completes special projects, appropriately balancing priorities and deliverables.

- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Actuarial Science or equivalent related work experience

- 8+ years accounting, auditing or actuarial experience w/ GAAP reporting and general ledger application experience

Preferred:

- Master's Degree, CPA

- Progress towards FLMI

- Progress towards CFA or SOA

- PeopleSoft or other accounting software applications experience

- Insurance/Reinsurance financial reporting experience

Skills and Abilities

Required:

- Basic Word, intermediate Excel, Access and SQL/Query skills

- Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting

- Advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility

- Advanced verbal and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.

- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.

- Advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills

- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines

State of Colorado: This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. The pay range for this position in Colorado is $80,380 -121,345 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location.
