Job Description:

This position oversees, plans, develops, markets, schedules, directs and manages the Adult Education programs including: GED, College Boost, Math Brush Up, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Intensive English Language Program (IELP). This includes the use of current and best practices to ensure the content and quality of each program remains at a high level and is consistent with the vision and mission of Aims Community College.

Leadership for Adult Education English as a Second Language Programs:

  • Supervise and evaluate all personnel assigned, recommending selection, retention, promotion and discharge as appropriate.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor Coordinators in each of the areas. In addition, lead the hiring and evaluation efforts of all part time faculty.
  • Maintain records of current teacher certifications, endorsements, and other pertinent skills.
  • Strives to build a professional, fair, and inclusive educational environment reflective of the communities we serve.
  • Promotes equity and inclusiveness.
  • Provide input to the Community Partnerships and Workforce Development strategic plan and establish key performance indices to meet the overall strategy of Aims Community College.
  • Establish a vision and mission for theABE/ESLprogram in collaboration with stakeholders

Course and Curricular Management:

  • Maintain record of current teacher certifications, endorsements, and other pertinent skills.
  • Assign schedule for all classes.
  • Maintain all course descriptions in Banner.
  • Maintain records as required by Aims Community College.
  • Prepare departmental reports as required on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Oversee the operations of learning sites/centers.
  • Work with appropriate Aims Community College departments to successfully transitionAEE/ESLstudents to college level coursework and programs.
  • Provide academic services and/or appropriate referral for students.
  • Develop and manage the curricula and assessment pertaining toGED, and Assessment Prep as well asESL/IELP

Budgetary Responsibility:

  • Effectively manageABE/ESLBudgets.
  • Develop processes for effectively tracking budget expenditures and needs of staff.
  • Effectively manage grant budgets and obligations - including fiscal and programmatic reporting.
  • Work with the grants office to seek grant funding to support the work ofABE/ESLandIELPprograms

Community Outreach and Marketing:

  • Point of contact for all community outreach sites
  • Responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with all outreach sites
  • Responsible for identifying new outreach sites for program growth
  • Works closely with the marketing department to develop marketing strategies, program materials and other marketing efforts
  • Participate in community groups whose focus is on supporting similar populations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Adult Education, ESL, or other related field, plus three (3) years' of appropriate administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Program development and management experience

  • Experience in keeping and maintaining records

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secondary teaching degree and/or endorsement in Counseling,ELL, Special Education or five (5) years experience in adult basic education.

  • High level of fluency in Spanish including reading and writing.

Minimum Payment Amount:

$68,890.00

Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
