Summary

The Risk Analyst functions as the technical support across the Risk Management Business Unit's departments consisting of Energy Commodity and Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance Risk.The Risk Analyst performs analytics, research, and risk modeling in support of NYPA's Risk Management functions. The Risk Analyst provides on-going risk identification, definition, assessment, and analysis associated with NYPA's risk mitigation plan and strategic initiatives.#LI-AE1

Responsibilities
  • Perform statistical and quantitative analyses to define and assess complex and emergent risks associated business practices.
  • Perform statistical and quantitative analyses of risks to target root causes in support of organizations risk mitigation plans.
  • Develop and maintain risk reports and risk dashboards for all levels of the organization, including risk management process flows and detailed evaluations and aid other business units in developing risk mitigation plans, processes and procedures.
  • Document business processes to identify, measure, and manage risks, in support of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement improvements of Risk Management programs, processes and reporting.
  • Create and implement risk training materials.Support the Risk Management team with project coordination.
  • Perform data analysis to identify and report on discrepancies, outliers and to create actionable plans.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles of risk management, finance, or statistical analysis.
  • Understanding of various types of risk drivers, including market, commodity, operations, credit and insurance.
  • Highly proficient in spreadsheet and/or statistical analysis packages. Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required; SQL, PowerBI and Tableau preferred
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, quantify, interpret, and report statistical data for presentations.
  • Strong organizational, communication and project coordination skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple programs with varying competing deadlines.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
Education, Experience and Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in risk analysis, data analytics or data visualization
Physical Requirements
  • Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
