Job description

Vallen is looking for an Industrial Hygiene Tech to add to our Safety team nested at Indorama Ventures - Port Neches Operations! The Industrial Hygiene Tech responsibilities include, but are not limited to, completion of industrial hygiene field investigations, identifying monitoring methods and media, performing exposure monitoring for hydrocarbons, particulates and other airborne contaminants, conducting noise dosimetry sampling and completing area noise surveys, assisting with indoor air quality investigations, operating and maintaining field testing equipment, and compiling data from field investigations.

Specific Job Duties And Responsibilities



  • Able to calibrate meters and pumps to ensure accurate sampling. Able to download data from all types of data logging equipment.
  • Can read and understand an IH sampling plan and sample physical and chemical stressors, complete IH data sheets, and send samples to lab.
  • Conduct indoor air quality - IAQ- studies and document results. Use instrumentation to provide quantitative data to assess the space.
  • Possess the skills necessary to produce reports in Word, complete data sheets, chain of custody reports for the lab, enter data into Excel and complete Excel tables.
  • Conduct safety and health evaluations and tests to note if ventilation, personal protective equipment, lighting and other conditions are adequate to protect workers.
  • Contact clients to confirm location for sampling, assure sample plan is met.



Required:

5-7 years of experience in industrial hygiene

Hazmat experience preferred

  • Working conditions will vary but generally service work is performed inside buildings which have regulated temperatures, and low level noise levels.
  • Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 75 pounds
  • Bending, climbing and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service
