Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Sr. Data Scientist with of quantitative and data analytics experience in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

This role will support and drive growth within the Decision Intelligence team, which is focused on using quantitative models to support business decisions. This is an exciting role to participate in a newly developed department and to shape how advanced analytics is used to support operational excellence.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:



  • Build, test, and deploy ML (machine learning), DP (deep learning), AI (artificial intelligence), and NLP (natural language processing) applications to produce value from data assets
  • Use foundational data science methodologies to identify relationships/drivers of key metrics to improve asset performance, financial predictions, asset clustering, and failure analysis
  • Develop statistical models, machine-learning based tools or processes to measure and manage business performance, validate that the models are working effectively and create/maintain proper model documentation
  • Predict future trends from the current platforms, as well as assist with strategy recommendations for future environments
  • Partner with various lines of business to identify opportunities to apply quantitative methods, automation solutions and analytical frameworks to improve business performance and process efficiencies
  • Monitor and assess the post-implementation impact of risk management strategies
  • Articulate and provide advanced of quantitative model and predictive behavior to non-analytical team members
  • Utilize various data sources to explore, analyze, and cleanse data prior to modeling


Position Requirements:



  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, financial modeling, statistical modeling or econometric modeling is required.
  • 5+ years' experience in oil & gas industry, specifically in midstream is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with various databases, data historians, and data query tools, such as OSISoft, ESRI, MSSQL, Oracle, MYSQL, etc. is required
  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, , Engineering, Finance, Physics, or related discipline is preferred
  • Experience with Python, R or other machine learning and/or statistical software is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills with ability to clearly convey modeling results to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment
