Job Description

We are seeking an SVP, Global Communications Strategy to lead holistic global media strategy for a large multi-national client. This person is a progressive media innovator, a transformative insight-miner, inspiring team leader, an expert brand and business driver and integrated cross-channel strategist.

The core responsibilities will be to partner with the Global Head of Media to oversee media thought leadership and Comms Strategy for our global foundational client, provide strategic guidance to a suite of additional clients and infuse brand and business building strategy in our new business growth efforts.


  • Reimagine how media informs and inspires creative ideas, and how this translates into compelling (and holistic) go to market strategies across paid, owned and earned media for our clients
  • Build new strategies for how media can reach people in the most relevant and meaningful ways
  • Innovate our approach to audiences and targeting that goes beyond the standard personas and channels
  • Analyze comms, audience and media barriers to reaching business and brand goals, and advocate for solutions across all touchpoints
  • Organize, concept, and develop culturally relevant connections ideas that live in the most relevant media environments
  • Map cultural and market trends, as well as research and analyze marketplace and media data
  • Take high-level communications tasks and identify how the brand should innovate and behave in different comms and cultural spaces
  • Building global media strategies and frameworks, adaptable to various regions/markets globally
  • Strong experience with brand building & demand generation media approaches and measurement solutions
  • Craft POE ecosystems and recommendations, grounded in consumer/customer journey, with clear channel roles and prioritizations
  • Capable of developing transformative insights driving media strategy
  • Leverage fast and slow moving consumer, category and cultural data in delivering comms & media strategy
  • Creative and innovative media thinker capable of driving media ideation
  • Experience developing and briefing partnership strategy, content strategy, influencer strategy and sponsorship strategy in service of brand building (brand partnerships, media partnerships, event sponsorships, content)
  • Experience building and developing workshops driving strategic and creative media solutions


  • Advance company's relationship with media partners, vendors and platforms to bring new opportunities and thought leadership to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with clients, and across the agency with: media, creatives, marketing sciences, strategic planners and tech
  • Oversee/Lead ideation team sessions, planning and investment development, and media vendor partnership development
  • Strategically mentor a growing team of Media professionals


  • Be a leader for new business growth and development through pitch participation, and collaboration with all disciplines in the MWG network

  • Is a commanding, inspiring, energetic and motivated "self-starter"
  • Challenges the limits of conventional ways of defining what media's role is in the marketing ecosystem and crafts narratives, channel approaches and strategies that are progressive and innovative
  • Understands the modern traditional and digital media and marketing channel ecosystem and knows how to optimize POE plans to build brands and improve outcomes
  • Is ambitious and proactive about personal and team development that focuses on building the next generation of diverse and strategic media thinkers
  • Brings exceptional collaboration skills - adept at both formal and informal ways of partnering with media planners and buyers, creative teams and brand planners
  • Develops strong relationships internally across departments as well as with clients
  • Has a strategic understanding of media dynamics globally and in key markets
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of Market Mix Models and application towards channel strategy
  • Has B2B and B2C large brand launch experience
  • Is a seasoned media strategist, capable of building strong media approaches, grounded in brand strategy, creative and consumer journey
  • Is experienced driving touchpoint and receptivity research, building discussion guides, running groups, sourcing insights

You Bring

  • 15+ years' experience of communications strategy + planning, media strategy + planning
  • 7+ years working with C-level executives both internally and at the client level
  • Experience as a Comms and Media leader for cutting edge, global clients, running comms and media strategy development involving multiple stakeholders
  • Experience crafting global and local communications strategies and working across multiple regionally located teams
  • New business savvy and brilliant pitching skills
  • Brand-side, consulting-side, creative side and/or B2B experience is a plus
