Position Summary	This position will be responsible for performing and supporting research on host-parasite interactions during malaria by supporting the laboratory's insectary and lab animal programs. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing and executing the laboratory's animal experiments and ensuring that trainees and other staff have samples for their experiments. The incumbent will also assist in the rearing of Anopheline mosquitoes for research purposes. Other duties related to laboratory organization and maintenance will be assigned as needed. This position will involve working with multiple species of lab animals and some weekend and holiday work. Individuals who possess previous experience rearing mosquitoes and/or lab animals (small and large) are particularly desired for position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies	Previous experience working with rodents, including injections, blood collections, anesthesia monitoring. Previous experience working with large animals including injections, blood collections, anesthesia monitoring. Ability to calculate drug dosages and administer the drugs. Experience managing clinical health records for laboratory animals. Experience rearing mosquitoes. Ability to organize, schedule, and manage multiple lab animal studies. Experience reading and writing animal user protocols. Learn new procedures and solve routine technical problems as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and laboratory records. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a fully productive, cooperative team member.
Physical Demands	Frequent movement between facilities, occasionally operating heavy equipment, lift more than 40 pounds, driving as needed to complete job tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities	Carry out experiments to understand host-parasite interactions during malaria with most work involving collecting samples from animals, planning and organizing sample collections, coordinating with the lab animal facilities, etc.

Duties/Responsibilities	Assist with the rearing of Anopheline mosquitoes including but not limited to keeping all paperwork necessary for tracking the health of the colony, communicating to stakeholders when problems arrive, coordinating the use of mosquitoes for all members in the experiments, and performing the day-to-day maintenance/processes of rearing multiple Anopheline colonies.
