Job Description

Overview

Under limited supervision develops, analyzes, interprets and reports complex financial and operational Revenue Cycle information to support the strategic vision and business plans in compliance with the Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Maryland Hospital Association (MSA) as well as all other billing and compliance rules and regulations for University of Maryland Medical System, a multi-billion dollar, regional healthcare system. Investigates data outcomes, making decisions on contributing factors and communicating/collaborating with business owners and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals and drive improvement of the overall financial health of the System. Utilizing analytic business tools, compiles information from multiple systems to support the completion of tasks under the purview of the Analytics and Technology Division. This position is responsible for the corporate reporting of University of Maryland Medical System and all its affiliates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Self-directed prioritization and completion of work. Sets goals to align with organizational and team needs. Produces spreadsheet and database deliverables using analytic business tools. Generates monthly, quarterly, and annual System performance reports, scorecards, and dashboards. Communicates observations to appropriate stakeholders. Assists in producing regulatory submissions for external bodies (including HSCRC and MHA) in compliance with published requirements and deadlines.
  • Reviews various datasets at a detail and summary level. Analyzes data to reconcile, confirm accuracy, and identify variances.
  • Manages creation and inflow/outflow of reports, files and datasets, working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure needs are met in a timely and secure manner.
  • Supports small to medium revenue cycle and business applications projects, including system implementations and upgrades. Communicates effectively with stakeholders, team members, Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) and immediate supervisor. Assists in creation, testing, and implementation of projects and monitors post completion to ensure accuracy and quality. Provides information regarding work progress, completed actions, and issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Formats, compiles, organizes, and stores data. Documents processes clearly for both analytics team and, where appropriate, end user awareness.
  • Provides analytic and technical support to end users. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams for continual revenue cycle process improvement.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance or information technology related field OR
  • Experience: Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skills: Knowledge of the following applications: MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand billing and compliance (including HSCRC/CMS) regulations, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10 code sets and business statistics.

  • Education: N/A
  • Experience: Experience in analyzing and balancing financial and statistical information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Crystal Reports, and other business intelligence tools.
