About Us

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. Job Description

Core Examination Design (CED) is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented electrical engineer. CED is a design and support organization for multiple pieces of small-scale equipment. Responsibilities for this position include electrical design and support for the larger electro-mechanical systems designed within the subdivision, offering preventative maintenance support and troubleshooting. Additional opportunities exist to support software development for test equipment. This challenging and rewarding opportunity will allow the selected candidate to develop and expand technical skills through complex assignments, interpersonal skills through numerous interfaces with other organizations, and leadership skills through teaming and mentoring.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience or;
MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience or;
Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program or SRE Qualification
Preferred Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong electrical aptitude
  • Strong troubleshooting aptitude
  • Experience with Visual Studio C#
  • Experience with control design
  • Experience with equipment design procedures
  • Ability to work independently on a project

Pay Range

$73,000 - $109,600 annually

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
