The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia is in search of an Accounting Manager. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Not for Profit Hospital Corporation (NFPHC), United Medical Center (UMC). Under the Direction of the Controller, the Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of staff performing accounting, accounts payable, payroll, audit, internal controls, and financial reporting functions for the Hospital. In addition, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and information and preparing financial reports and statements
  • Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and procedures
  • Providing recommendations and overseeing the revision of existing or establishing new policies and procedures to reduce errors
  • Documenting and reviewing all control processes in readiness for internal and external audits
  • Ensuring the proper compilation of financial data and audit workpaper in accordance with all financial reporting regulatory standards
  • Controlling and supervising monthly financial closing activities to ensure that all accounting subsystems are properly interfaced with the computerized general ledger system to assure financial integrity
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Six (6) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as overseeing accounting and financial reporting functions; reviewing internal control processes; providing technical expertise on accounting issues; and strong knowledge of hospital audit requirements. CPA certification highly desired.

In addition - Applicant must have a bachelor's degree earned at an accredited US institution in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. This can include up to six (6) hours of business law. Applicants must submit an official transcript that verifies a degree in accounting or related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered. If applicable, your application package must include a foreign credential course by course evaluation of all foreign transcripts. Acceptable foreign credential equivalency reports must be provided by organizations that have current membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
