Tugmate Trainee Program
Vulcan offers a Linehaul Tugmate trainee program with internal training for employees eager to grow within the company and show a strong aptitude in the department. The program, developed in 2009, takes approximately three to five years to complete depending on the employee's certifications when entering. Once enrolled, Vulcan provides the training and financial obligation for the necessary certificates moving forward. Since the onset, we have successfully trained eight employees to receive their credentials and qualifications with the USCG that have been promoted to Tugmates.
All qualified deckhand applicants must have valid Merchant Mariners Credentials. No other experience is required.
All Captains and Tugmates must possess a valid 200-ton towing license.
