Teaching Assistant
The Department of Academic Affairs is seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) who must be present and available during the entire course to work alongside the Instructor(s) to help organize the course, give lectures in their areas of expertise, grade assignments, and/or give supplementary instruction, as needed. Knowledge of the Cells to Society and Leadership courses.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • The TA must be available to provide extra assistance to individual students as needed.
  • The TA will assist in grading homework, quizzes, and exams. The TA will also monitor online discussion boards, engage in regular communication with students, and assist during online synchronous sessions.
  • The selected individual(s) will be responsible for preparing the course website before the start of the course.
  • The course website will include assignment descriptions and deadlines, grade book calculations, group and class discussion forums, student resources, practice exams, and mid-term course evaluations.
  • The TA may also be asked to outline a teaching module for future. This module may include documents for preparing new TAs, troubleshooting tips, and/or information on fostering a productive working relationship with a course Instructor. Other administrative tasks related to the course may also be required.


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree preferred.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
