Program Director, Oxbridge Academic Programs

Position Objective:

The Program Director is responsible for the program. He/she oversees the organization of the program, its logistics, finances, daily and monthly administration. He/she is also ultimately responsible for all academic aspects of the program. He/she holds daily administrative meetings with Deans, PAs, and ADs, as well as weekly faculty meetings with educators, and either he/she or the Associate Director must always be available in case of emergencies. He/she is ultimately responsible for maintaining student discipline and is the only person who can give permission to students to be released from the program and even this can only be done with signed parental permission. The Program Director maintains communications with student families and oversees the production of grade-sheets, certificates, and handing out of academic and disciplinary awards at the end of the program. The Program Director is ultimately responsible for sanctioning program activities and, with the help of the Deans and Activity Directors, making certain they take place in a secure environment. The Program Director runs Prep Week which involves planning for arrival and departure days (collecting students from the airport, faculty airport assignments, etc). Program Directors are seasoned counselors or classroom teachers who are currently employed in middle and high schools of good standing.

Work Schedule:

* Part-time (approximately 48 hours per week) while the program is in session.
* Must be flexible while the program is operational - to include weekend or holiday work.

Essential Functions:

* Take responsibility for implementing student discipline, upholding program policies and regulations, and attending to the welfare of the student body - including the students' emotional and physical welfare.
* Observe faculty regularly and assist them with academic aspects of the program (syllabi, course plans/trips) as needed.
* Live in residence for the duration of "Prep Week" and the duration of the program.
* Oversee the program set-up ("Prep Week"). During this time, the Admin team will work from approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm each day.
* Be available ("on-call") to respond to emergency situations, or to provide additional support to the administration, when required.
* Communicate weekly with parents.
* Assist Deans with any disciplinary issues, should they escalate.
* Hold once-weekly Administration Meetings and once-weekly Faculty Meetings.

Field

* Must be currently employed in a middle- or high-school of good standing.
* Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with an ability to stay calm in a crisis.
* Personable and approachable, and able to be a strong representative of their program.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Master's degree (or higher) in Education, Education Management, or Child Psychology, or a related topic, preferred.
* Directors often have already run school trips and worked on residential summer programs before in order to be considered for the post.
