Job Summary: Staff will work with engagement teams to achieve the mission of Financial Management Services (FMS), to enable business owners to spend more time executing their strategies and less time managing finance.

They will assist in the preparation of quality compiled and prepared financial statements in accordance with SSARS 21, tax write-up, and assist clients in various industries.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively maintain the firm's core values HT3 and service standards
  • Maintain client files in appropriate software for the following accounting functions needed
  • Responsible for accurate coding of general ledger transactions
  • Ensure accuracy of client financial records, specifically the trial balance and general ledger reconciliations
  • Calculate and make appropriate accrual entries
  • Work with accounting software on fixed assets and determine related depreciation
  • Complete analysis of general ledger accounts to identify needed adjustments
  • Prepare relevant reports of financial activity and use accounting skills for problem solving, which may include budget versus actual variance identification, analysis and cash flow
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including but not limited to, state reporting, sales tax, and property tax
  • Prepare basic to medium complexity compiled and prepared financial statements, tax write-ups and related workpapers
  • Research sales and property tax issues
  • Act as a liaison between service areas and client related vendors
  • Understand and apply basic principles of accounting along with common accounting standards and procedures
  • Hone write-up and planning skills, including the ability to identify, analyze and articulate problems and opportunities, and propose solutions as a client advocate
  • Effectively communicate results, both internally and externally on project and client information
  • Understand client objectives and maximize the value of the service we provide with respect to attaining those objectives
  • Maintain understanding of all relevant computer software applications and how they might best be used to promote efficient use of time
  • Obtain understanding of the economics of job performance by working within Firm operational budgets and billing constraints
  • Develop time management skills and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Assist Managers/Executives and clients with a variety of other financial and non-financial matters as requested
  • Expected level of chargeable time is 1,500 billable hours, within the context of 2,200 - hour year
  • Compliance to the Firm's quality control standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting or related field from an accredited school required.
  • Internship and/or six months to 2 years recent public accounting experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of accounting system and ability to adapt to a variety of softwares
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting and other applicable accounting pronouncements
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word and other software applications
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and be highly organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee will regularly be required to sit, stand, reach, walk, drive, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
