Position Summary The Department of Gender, Women, and Sexualities (GWS) Studies at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Gender, Women, and Sexualities Studies to begin Fall 2024. Of special interest are GWS scholars whose research and teaching focus on trans/queer studies, with a secondary focus on decolonial and/or critical race theory frameworks, health, mutual aid, practices of care and/or social justice organizing. The courses to be taught include core courses such as GWS 1030 Introduction to Social Justice and Decoloniality, GWS 1550 Introduction to Transgender Studies, GWS 1200 Multicultural Study of Sexualities and Genders, GWS 2100 Women of Color, GWS 2200 Feminist and Queer Research methods, and upper division courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Faculty are on 9-month contracts with optional summer teaching. The successful candidate will teach both online and on campus classes, advise and mentor undergraduate students, engage in scholarly activities, and provide service responsibilities to the department, college, university, profession, and community. The department is housed in the Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy (GITA), a unique office on the Auraria campus. GITA offers both academics (one major and two minors), and direct support services to students targeted by sexism and other intersecting oppressions. For more information on GITA, please visit: . Salary for Announcement The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $62,000 at Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
