Responsibilities

River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Dietary - Cook/Porter, to assist and take direction from the Department Manager and work cooperatively with other personnel while maintaining a high level of quality service.

JOB DESCRIPTION INCLUDES; BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

- Cleans all areas of kitchen, equipment, floors, trash etc.;

- Prepares food for patients/ employees/ cafeteria dissemination and other special activities.

- Check incoming stock and food orders.

- Assists in serving food in cafeteria line, assures a continuous flow of food is prepared.

- Assists on special projects when requested; Performs additional tasks as requested;

- Takes necessary precautions for self and others when using equipment and chemicals (i.e. gloves, hair nets, etc.);

- Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient and employee related information.

- Attends all required in-services annually: Fire, disaster, and safety and updates Infection Control and updates Administrative policies and procedures Crisis Intervention and updates


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

-High school diploma or equivalency

- Ability to read, write and follow written instruction and recipes.

- Experience in preparing food in bulk quantities preferred. Previous experience, preferably in a hospital, hotel or other institutional setting

- Ability to work with others in a team environment.

- Availability for VARIED SHIFTS, 6:00am - 2:30pm, 10:00 am - 6:30 pm, Monday-Friday, Alternating Weekends.

- Provide service to all populations while demonstrating the Service Excellence Standards.
