Research Assistant

We are seeking a Research Assistant who will support faculty members, particularly in research-focused organizations. This position involves assisting faculty in their research endeavors, providing administrative support, and contributing to various research projects and scholarly activities. The assistant will also help in assisting with nursing workforce surveys, planning conferences, and webinars. A Research Assistant to Faculty is vital in advancing academic research and contributes to the faculty's success in their scholarly pursuits. This position provides valuable support in research activities, enabling faculty members to focus on their academic and scientific contributions to their respective fields.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty members on their research projects by conducting literature reviews, gathering, and analyzing data, and assisting in experiments or fieldwork.
  • Organize and manage research data, including data entry, coding, and maintaining data integrity. Use relevant software tools and methods as required.
  • Assist in conducting literature searches and synthesizing research articles, reports, and other scholarly materials relevant to the research area.
  • Provide administrative support to faculty, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence. Prepare and format documents, presentations, and research proposals.
  • If applicable, help maintain research laboratories, equipment, and supplies. Ensure the availability of necessary materials for experiments.
  • If applicable, assist in conducting experiments, nursing surveys, or fieldwork and help ensure compliance with research protocols and ethical guidelines.
  • Use appropriate software tools for data analysis, statistical tests, and visualization. Prepare reports and summaries of research findings.
  • Work collaboratively with other research assistants, students, and faculty members within and outside the department or institution.
  • Assist in project management tasks, including tracking progress, deadlines, and milestones. Communicate project updates to faculty and team members.
  • Help faculty prepare presentations for conferences, seminars, or academic publications. May participate in presenting research findings.
  • Assist in preparing research grant applications and proposals, including budgeting, literature reviews, and documentation.

  • Strong research skills, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis, such as statistical software or data visualization programs.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining research integrity and ethics.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn and apply new research methods and techniques.
  • Familiarity with academic and scholarly writing styles and formats.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree desired.
  • Some research-related experience in the community.
  • Ability to work with populations across ages, socio-economic circumstances.
  • Experiences in plan and conducting biological laboratory testing.

Starting Salary Range: Min $17.00 - Max $30.00 HRLY ($45,825 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
