We are seeking a Grants & Contracts Analyst,Pre-Award. Research Management Services (RMS) supports the pre and post-award administration for sponsored funding across multiple departments within the School of Medicine. RMS strives to provide the highest quality of customer service in sponsored research management to our customers including departments, faculty, key stakeholders and central teams including the Office of Research Administration (ORA), Sponsored Projects Shared Services (SPSS) and the School of Medicine Business Office. The Grants & Contracts Analyst works alongside faculty and fellow colleagues to support pre-award activities for Research Management Services (RMS). The primary goal of this position is to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient proposal preparation for various funding age6ncies and award types while meeting sponsor deadlines. This position reports to the pre-award Grants and Contracts Manager of RMS. Position Overview This position will work alongside a dedicated pre-award submission team to meet with investigators and develop proposals for submission to funding agencies. The position requires reviewing proposal solicitations in detail to ensure all required formatting and documents for the submission are included. Pre-award functions include, but may not be limited to: proposal preparation and submission, budget development, working with potential sub-awardees/subcontractors, preparing justifications of programmatic costs and preparing/maintaining other applicable documents for proposals such as other support pages, bio-sketches, conflict of interest and regulatory documentation. The Pre-Award function also includes pre-processing of contracts and agreements that range from simple to complex. Pre-Processing includes review of documents to understand their intent, collection of administrative support documentation and in some cases, budget development. This position will operate within a team as well as independently on a wide variety of grants/contracts and clinical research projects ranging from moderate to complex. This position will require great attention to detail and organization while juggling multiple, competing demands and adhering to deadlines. Excellent communication skills and a customer service minded focus are essential skills required to succeed in the position. Position Scope/Complexity Will work independently a majority of the time, with support from Principal Investigator (PI) and/or senior management level grants & contract professionals on increasingly more complex grants/contracts. Will provide standard professional administrative level guidance on protocols, regulations and guidelines to PI and other scientific/research professionals within the department. May interact with external research/administrative professionals. Types of sponsored awards for which the position is responsible: This role functions at an intermediate level, with responsibility for independent management of simple to moderately complex grants/contracts, primarily from NIH, DOD, various foundation awards and clinical trials. These grants, contracts and awards may involve detailed budgets, sub-awards, special instructions in RFA, career awards, training awards, multi-project grants, foundation grants, sub-awards from other institutions and pharmaceutical clinical trials.
