Job Summary:

The BOM Kit Specialist responds to a qualified customer's Bill of Material (BOM) request that will be assembled as a kit in the Dallas NVA warehouse and completes all steps necessary to ship a BOM kit from the NVA warehouse. Turnaround time, accuracy, 100% sourcing of the BOM, and kit delivery are key measurements. The position is responsible for meeting the customer's turnaround time for the BOM responses as specified in any kit or supplier agreement and communicating any product or delivery changes throughout the complete order to bill cycle to the customer. Sources or cross-references all BOM lines using product knowledge to provide a complete BOM kit.

This position must accurately source and price 5 to 10 customer Bills of Material per day with 100 to 250 lines. The position is part of a small team that currently generates $12M in annual kit sales. Customers using this type of service are usually Newark's top 2000 customers. All activities have a direct affect on the customer's satisfaction and performance rating of Newark. The position has access to sales data, cost data, and is responsible for vendor management and NVA inventory levels. This position works with multiple internal contacts and vendor contacts but has no direct reports.

This position reports to the Sales Operations Manager and is located in the Sales Office.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Process customer BOM using Siebel, Q2O scrubber, BOMPRO, and Q2O BOM spreadsheet through quote and order entry steps to ensure the kit is complete and accurate.
  • Identify and cross-reference non-franchised products to franchised vendor products. Requests SKU setups as required.
  • Determines if local warehouse stocked product meets BOM specification first before sourcing to non-franchised source to insure that local inventory is utilized efficiently
  • Sources product that cannot be cross-referenced using internet or direct vendor contact. Initiates a purchase requisition for product required for BOM completion.
  • Meets BOM quote response cycle time as specified in any customer agreement and provides updates to committed delivery dates when vendor delivery dates change.
  • Communicates directly with National Account customers and Contract Manufacturer customers associated with NIO National Accounts (who are not supported by local A/Rs) with respect to BOM clarification, sourcing and lead times.
  • Accurately quoting availability of a complete BOM within the response time required by the customer.
  • Recognize partial or complete customer-supplied part numbers of electronic components on a BOM to facilitate cross-referencing to stocked or available product.
  • Balancing customer requirements for BOM accuracy and on-time delivery with profitability and inventory levels by sourcing correctly.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Requires good organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to associate part numbers with vendors, products, and values, where applicable.
  • Intermediate-level PC skills (Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Access).
  • Must have sales or customer service skills to communicate (written and verbal) with both vendor and customer.

Work Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of two years of related experience.

Education and Certification(s):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in purchasing, quotations, and/or industrial sales
