Join our dynamic team as a Distribution Water Operator III, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring a safe workplace and delivering top-notch service to our customers. Accountabilities
  • Conduct thorough analysis and make informed decisions on job details and emergencies
  • Maintain and account for tools, equipment, and assigned vehicles
  • Complete daily job safety inspection sheets and accurately read meters
  • Perform leak repairs, mains maintenance, fire hydrant management, new service installations, meter changes, and service repairs
  • Keep the direct Supervisor informed of field customer service issues and needs
  • Utilize PC tablets for field service applications and process service orders efficiently
  • Operate hand and power tools, as well as mechanical equipment, during various tasks such as installing, operating, and repairing mains, services, meters, valves, and fire hydrants
  • Assist in shutdowns, repairs, disinfection, and restoration of water service to customers
  • Oversee and direct contractors as needed
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience and knowledge of basic construction, maintenance methods, meter reading, and/or procedures in a water utility
  • TCEQ Class D Operator License in specific area of concentration; i.e., Wastewater or Basic Water Operations,or a Class I Collections or ability to acquire within one year from date of hire
  • Validdriver's license with a clean driving record
  • Basic computer skills, including PC Windows operations knowledge, and experience with communication devices
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly with minimal supervision and function in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • CPR and First Aid training
