Position Description:

Key to the success of the department’s business practices is the effective delivery of transportation programs and projects. The final project coordination (FPC) review is the last milestone review of the plan and proposal package for omissions/errors/conflicts/contradictions, etc. prior to project submittal for advertising. This position is the statewide specialist responsible for all in-house and consultant trunkline road projects and providing the MDOT quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) omissions and errors checks (OEC) sign off prior to submittal of advertising for advertising, letting and awarding the construction contract.  This position is also a backup for conducting inspections for road projects at the base plan and plan review milestones.

Responsibilities:

-          Review road plans, specifications, special provisions, and estimates for completeness, clarity and accuracy and identify errors or contradictions.

-          Recommend solutions to complex design and constructability issues using engineering judgement that will improve the quality of the road plan and proposal package.

-          Collaborate with the project manager or design engineer to verify that recommendations have been addressed.

-          Represent the Design Support Area as a participant at FPC meetings for road projects.

-          Act as liaison between region/Transportation Service Center (TSC) and central office personnel in reaching solutions to complex design issues.

-          Miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
