Position Purpose
The Trust Administration Endowment and Investment Accounting Analyst's role has two separate and important components. The first is to be is responsible for all the accounting, monitoring, and analysis of Dartmouth's investment assets, activities within the administration of the charitable giving and life income trusts, and donor advised funds. Assists with collecting and analyzing investment tax data for Dartmouth's tax filings and preparation of annual financial statements. activities at the College. The second is to provide the Director of Institutional Accounting with in-depth analysis of the College's underlying investments within all the investment portfolios.

* Knowledge of investment terminology and principles.
* Ability to plan work and manage periodic peak workloads with frequent interruptions
* Highly proficient with PC applications, including Excel, with the ability to maximize the capabilities of spreadsheets to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Capable of working closely with peers and service providers to meet demanding reporting schedule
* Ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Initiative, sound judgment and ability to work independently.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.

Experience
* Three to five years of relevant experience in a related field with a high degree of autonomy
* Experience in financial analysis.

Education
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Financial Management required

Key Accountabilities


Description
Investment Accounting and Administration
* Responsible for all accounting activities related to Life Income Trusts, which include charitable remainder trusts, charitable remainder annuity trusts, charitably gift annuities, and pooled income funds
* Manages multi-faceted information exchange with external service providers, including resolving discrepancies between Dartmouth and the service providers
* Reviews and monitors trusts to ensure proper investment, payments to beneficiaries and tax reporting
* Verifies and reconciles financial data between external service providers and Dartmouth's accounting records
* Updates general ledger for new trusts, terminated trusts, market values and changes in split interest liabilities
* Monitors and manages all activity on the Donor Advised Funds and coordinates data exchange with Gift Planning Office and Gift Recording Office.
* Serves as a back-up for endowment fund set-up and monthly accounting close.
* Ensures transactions and valuations are accurately reported and reconciles activity for private investments between private investments subsystem and custodian.
* Performs analysis and calculates or reviews market values on investment managers within Dartmouth's investment portfolios.
* Assists in preparing monthly and yearly cash flow statements for Dartmouth's investment pools.
* Accounting and monitoring of oil and gas leases belonging to Dartmouth.
* Participates in a variety of special projects related to research or analysis related to investments.
* Performs in-depth analysis of federal and state unrelated business expense ( UBI) and investment excise tax related to Dartmouth's investments within the investment portfolios.

Description
Reporting and Analysis
* Produces monthly and annual investment accounting reporting for Dartmouth's defined benefit retirement plan.
* Produces monthly and annual reporting for Dartmouth's Donor Advised Fund programs and distributes to the Gift Planning office.
* Prepares schedules for the annual financial statements, including FASB classifications and split interest liabilities of life income trusts
* Prepares and provides life income trust reporting for internal use
* Analyze transactions in all investment pools on custodian's system to ensure accuracy.
* Performs ad-hoc analysis for the Controller's Office, the Investment Office, as well as the fiscal officers on campus
