Job Overview:

The Monmouth Medical Center Administrative Fellowship program is a year-long, contracted position where the fellow will be an integral member of hospital administration. The fellow will work hand in hand with hospital leadership, rotate through various areas of the hospital, and identify, implement, and support numerous projects. Additional rotations and project implementation will be tailored to the fellow's areas of interest. The fellow will also be presented with professional development opportunities including attendance at the American College of Healthcare Executives Annual Congress. Upon completion of this program, the fellow will have a deeper understanding of not only how a hospital functions, but what it takes to be a leader in the healthcare setting.

The Administrative Fellow will support all activities in facilitating and managing the implementation of projects related to the hospitals commitment to innovation, clinical quality, engagement, economic health and working towards the compliance with the Triple Aim: better patient care, lower cost of care and a healthier population.

Ability to effectively manage multiple complex projects and meeting expected deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Is knowledgeable and supportive of the mission and role of Monmouth Medical Center and RWJBarnabas Health system. Is cognizant of and responsive to internal and external factors that affect the delivery of healthcare.

The incumbent is responsible for communicating progress and managing internal stakeholder expectations that includes project pilots, ongoing inpatient and outpatient projects. This position requires close coordination and communication with managers and clinicians throughout the hospital. This position strives to achieve fulfilling the RWJBarnabas Health/ Monmouth Medical Center mission throughout the fellowship.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Recent graduate (within 12 months) from a Master s-level program including, but not limited to, MHA, MBA, MHSA, MPH
  • Data analyses utilizing pivot tables, formula-based calculations (SUMIFs, V-Lookups, etc). Advanced capability for Microsoft Excel, Project and Access
  • Proficiency with Statistical Analysis Packages (SAS, SPSS, MiniTab or similar programs)
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and can work effectively with a diversity of personalities and skill sets. Must be approachable, show respect for others.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with various levels of clinical and administrative managers within the hospital
  • Is a strong leader with a mature sense of priorities and solid practice experience who can design and implement programs
  • Is politically savvy, has a high tolerance for ambiguity and can work successfully with several disciplines and skill sets.
  • Is a systems thinker with strong organizational skills who can pull all the pieces together and deliver on time and within budget
  • Can demonstrate program development and implementation skills

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions remove when posting):

  • 8:00am 4:30 pm
  • Monday - Friday
  • FT year-long contracted position

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains knowledge of the current regulations and technologies related to data informatics
  • Designs and manages custom applications needed to ensure that management meets requirements for the entry, management and reporting of accurate data
  • Assists management team with queries, statistical analyses, reports and technical difficulties related to data retrieval as needed
  • Document, implement, maintain or recommend operating methods to improve processing, distribution, data flow, collection, database editing procedures
  • Sets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals
  • Develop, maintain or implement procedures for data entry, data cleaning, documentation and other administrative tasks
  • Performs interventions in accordance with applicable policy and procedure, safety guidelines and departmental protocol
  • Implements the best practices in data management to ensure the integrity of the data, the quality of data processes and deliver analyzable or analyzed data to a variety of internal and external partners of the Medical Center
  • Evaluates databases and statistical analyses programs and interacts with computer groups to determine hardware/software compatibility
  • Maintain the integrity of data, data systems, projects requiring data harvest ensuring timely, relevant, accurate and consistent information use
  • Evaluates databases and statistical analysis to determine hardware/software capabilities.
  • Provide leadership in assembling teams of MMC staff with the responsibility for implementing projects and innovation initiatives across the continuum of care and disciplines
  • Establish a process of evaluating progress and ensuring accountability and responsibility across disciplines
  • Work in collaboration with service chiefs, senior leadership, residency programs, medical students and external partners to ensure a consistent and appropriate level of progress
  • When appropriate, work in partnership with community-based providers and administrative and clinical staff to develop and implement programs that promote health and access to health in designated communities
  • Develop key collaboration throughout the organization on current performance improvement projects and adhoc tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop valid, consistent methods for measuring health care quality by building an efficient reporting process and aggregating data
  • Soliciting input from a diverse range of clinicians and facilitating acceptance for evidence-based outcomes and recommended changes
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives related to Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Strong analytic competency; proficient with databases, spreadsheets, Excel and hospital software systems such as Axiom, Cerner, Mede Analytics, PeopleSoft, PowerWorks, Press Ganey, SCI, STRATAJazz, etc.
