About the role

The CDL Class A driver will perform duties associated with transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Covanta facilities and the client's sites. Drives will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, and flat-beds.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment in a safe manner following DOT regulations and company policies and regulations.
  • Drive commercial vehicles to pick up and transport waste to a designated location safely while meeting scheduled appointments and following all DOT regulations.
  • Ensure placarding of the vehicle meets DOT regulations.
  • Maintain paperwork including expense reports, timesheets, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and job sheets.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED preferred;
  • Covanta offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
  • Must be 21 years or older, due to interstate travelin a commercial vehicle and federal regulations.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience.
  • CDL Class A with Tanker endorsements.
  • HazMat endorsement is preferred but not required.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to use a tablet for E-Logs.
