Primary Responsibilities



  • Design, implement, and deliver innovations for the root of trust and chain of the trust on Fortinet ARM SOCs.
  • Maintain, test, and debug UEFI BIOS for X86 servers. Design and integrate Fortinet chain of trust into X86 UEFI BIOS.
  • Develop UEFI drivers for Fortinet chips, especially PCIe and Ethernet devices.
  • Work closely with ASIC team to simulate and verify ARM CPU, ARM SOC components, Fortinet IPs, DDR etc. during CPU chip design stage.
  • Participate in schematic reviews to guide electrical designs and anticipate firmware impacts.
  • Assist other functional teams (OS, QA, IQC, PM, CM, etc.) in test, debug, and integration, release, and to produce proper test tools and automation for qualifying the whole system.


The following qualifications are highly desired



  • Master's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Excellent programming and skills in C/C++ for bare-metal and Linux operating environments. Experience with Assembly languages (X86/ARM), and debugging skills for bare-metal board.
  • Solid understanding of OS internals and of how BIOS/UEFI/ATF interacts with OS in both X86 and ARM.
  • Expertise on Ethernet protocols.
  • Good knowledge of crypto protocols, such as RSA, ECDSA, AES, etc. Knows the concept of root of trust and chain of trust. Knowledge of TPM, Secure Boot, etc.
  • Good knowledge of low-level interfaces such as I2C/SPI/UART/eMMC/JTAG etc. Have the ability to analyze oscilloscope their waveforms.
  • Familiar with PCIe enumeration, USB (XHCI) enumeration, AHCI protocol etc.
  • Familiar with ARM processer components, such as AXI bus, AHB/APB bus, MMU, SMMU, GIC, etc. is a plus.
  • Having the skill to analyze FPGA Chipscope (ILA) waveform is an extra.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000-$150,000. Fortinet offers employees a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), 11 paid holidays, vacation time, and sick time as well as a comprehensive leave program.

Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

All roles are eligible to participate in the Fortinet equity program, Bonus eligibility is reviewed at time of hire and annually at the Company's discretion.
